Step 1

PADI eLearning

PADI eLearning makes it easy to fit scuba lessons into a busy schedule. Complete the independent study part of your course whenever, wherever it's convenient for you. Work at your own pace, online or offline, using a computer or mobile device. Connect with your instructor for in-water training, or whenever you have a question.

  • โ€ขeLearning time commitment: 1โ€“3 hours
Step 2

With Your Instructor

ADDITIONAL COST: Your Dive Shop will charge fees for training and gear rental.

With your instructor, you'll practice the SEA system โ€” Shoot, Examine, Adjust โ€” to capture better images. You'll work on composition, getting close, using light and avoiding backscatter, then review your photos to keep improving.

  • โ€ขTotal time commitment: 1โ€“2 days

Digital Underwater Photographer FAQs

You don't necessarily need to own one to start, but it helps to train with the camera you plan to use. The course works with everything from compact point-and-shoot cameras and phone housings to advanced DSLR and mirrorless systems. Many dive shops also offer cameras for rent โ€” ask your instructor what's available.
